I am a non-sweet sweet-tooth...
So the NHL season was officially cancelled today. What a sad, sad day. And I'm not even a huuuge hockey fan, and I can only imagine how much angst they must be feeling. Basically, the fans, the people the sport is supposed to be about, got screwed by the "business." The owners and players couldn't agree on $$$ issues. Isn't it always about money? Sheesh. Well, now there is no NHL season. But I feel sorry not only for the fans, but what about those peole who work like concessions and stuff at those arenas? I mean, people got screwed of their jobs too. The players, I could really care less about. I mean, those guys are definitely not starving (contrary to what pro-athletes like Latrell Sprewell would think), and they're equally worthy of blame. The sports industry as a whole is just out of control. Players get 7, 8, and even 9 figure salaries? To play a game that they supposedly love? But when the dollars aren't there, they won't play, or wanna go somewhere else? I mean, I could only with that I was a commissioner of a league, and just lay out an ultimatum...both with the owners and players... Lower everyone's salaries...or they don't play...lower ticket prices, or there's no game. It's tough enough attending a game, financially speaking of course. It's not even a thing a family can all go out and do anymore, it just costs too much. Blech, the sporting world is going to hell in a handbasket man. And slowly, I'm beginning to be quite turned off. It's tough though, because I love sports...I love competition, but then it's hard when all these business issues come up and just kinda ruin everything. I would have to admit that I am just torn...torn to supporting sports that I love, corrupted by greed.
My cell is dying
My cell phone seems to be on the fritz. The most recent issue is that the battery meter doesn't change...it always stays at full, so I never know when my battery is low. I didn't know it was low until it totally died on me when I was playing a game on it during my chiro appt earlier this week. And you know how you usually can turn it back on for a few seconds? Well, I couldn't even do that. I plugged it in when I got home and it charged. Now I just gotta make sure to charge it every other day...depending on how much I use it. I used to be able to use it for like 4 days before each charge. Man, ever since I cancelled my insurance, I know I know, you can pick your jaw up off the floor...but I just never used it. But of course, my phone would get all weird once I had no insurance. I heard that you don't even get the same phone back...just a comparable phone. That's whack. Anyway, I just need this phone to last for another 8 months...is that too much to ask? You'd think the shelf-life of a phone would be more than 2 freakin years. But of course, they probably don't factor in that someone would drop their phone as much as I do... But then again, I just think it's their shady ass method of making sure we have to keep buying new phones. Well, hopefully, this poor thing can survive another 3/4 of a year.
did you know?
There are more than 1,000 chemicals in a cup of coffee. Of these, only 26 have been tested, and half caused cancer in rats.
